Anti Racist Cumbria Walk the Wall

01 Jul 2022 - 03 Jul 2022

Free

Delivered by: Anti Racist Cumbria & M-Unit

A walking challenge hosted by Anti Racist Cumbria, whose mission is to make Cumbria the first anti-racist county in the UK. The purpose of the walk is to raise awareness of and celebrate the contribution Black and Brown people have made across the wall, from Bowness to Wallsend.

From showcasing Black-owned businesses, exhibitions showing Black Memories Matter, celebrating the significance of Black and Brown contributions both past and present and even to visiting the site of the first recorded African Community in Britain. Anti Racist Cumbria will be sharing their own Anti Racist Cumbria story and that of their partner on this project, M-Unit. Their group of walkers will be supported by volunteers along the way, and people are welcome to join them for parts of the walk to find out more about what they do, how they do it and why they’re doing it!

The best way to find out where they’re up to is to follow their social media stories on Instagram as they will be posting and sharing throughout the trip. The rough itinerary is below.

Day 1: Walk Bowness to Sandysike Bunkhouse. 7:30am set off
Day 2: Walk Sandysike to Chollerford. 7:30am set off
Day 3: Walk Chollerford to Wallsend. 7:30am set off
