Delivered by: Muncaster Castle
People have celebrated spring for millennia and in Roman times their May Day festivities revolved around Flora, the Roman Goddess of Flowers. The gardens at Muncaster are a dream of colours and Bluebell Heaven on the hillside above the castle is a must-see and a joy to behold.
Entertainment will include walkabout performances by the potted Rusticus & Rebus, Gardeners’ Question Time (Hortulani Quaestio Tempus) with Hortanulus & Pansicus storytelling, food & craft stalls and much much more, all supervised by our very own flower Goddess Flora.
It is rumoured the Emperor Hadrian may even appear around 3pm each day of the Festival!
