Delivered by Food Carlisle
As part of the Hadrian’s Wall 1900 celebrations and Food Carlisle’s Food at the Frontier project, there will be a guided tour of the “disappearing ditch” in the grounds of Susan’s Farm at Houghton – a part of Hadrian’s Wall not normally accessible to the public.
Please join us on Sunday 18th September to discover this part of Hadrian’s Wall. Short, guided walks along the disappearing ditch and Susan’s Farm will be available at 1130, 1330 and 1430, where you will be able to find out more information about how the land is farmed sustainably with the environment in mind, as well as sample some Roman cooking courtesy of local chef John Crouch and enjoy engineering demonstrations with STEM ambassador Tony Dixon. After the walks, visitors will be welcome to purchase refreshments from the education centre and food from local producers will also be available to purchase on the day.
The event is free to attend. Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather and wellies are recommended.
Car Parking is available in the police compound across from the field entrance, approx. 200 yards north of the BP garage.
