Delivered by Gilsland Community Mosaic Group
Gilsland Community Mosaic funded by the National Heritage Lottery. This project was designed to bring together local people of all ages to design and make a permanent artwork of Gilsland and its main features in the form of a Roman Mosaic. Bringing the people of Gilsland together and learning new crafts and skills. Based on local peoples views and ideas for the design and working with consulting artist Jane Dudman. The final piece will be mounted in the centre of the village at the local bus stop which is on the Hadrian’s Wall foot path and will be seen by local people and tourists alike. It is also the site of the community library. The Mosaic is expected to be in place by the end of May 2022.
