Delivered by Hexham Ramblers
A great way to end this series of Ramblers walks along and around Hadrian’s Wall! Join the Hexham Ramblers as they walk across fields from Great Whittington to the military road near Halton Shields, and then follow the line of the vallum through Wallhouses to Crag Plantation (near Harlow Hill) and its spectacular views of the nearby reservoirs and countryside. Then, cut across country to the edge of the Matfen estate, passing a beautifully restored 18th-century ice box and a ring-marked standing stone. The final stretch of the return to Great Whittington is along St Oswald’s Way and past Whittington Mill.
Good walking boots and outdoor clothing are essential. Bring something to eat and drink. Starts at 10.15am from Great Whittington, opposite the Queen’s Head pub.
Advance booking is required.
