Delivered by Friends of Carlisle Victorian and Turkish Baths
Join the Friends of Carlisle for the second of their Hadrian 1900 events looking at ‘The History of Carlisle’s Bathing’ from Roman Carlisle, through the Victorian era and public baths, right through to the revival of outdoor swimming.
The Talk will look at the recent archaeological dig at Carlisle Cricket Club which unearthed evidence of a significant Roman bathhouse next to the River Eden, celebrate 113 years of bathing in the City’s historic and exquisite Turkish baths, and examine the health and wellbeing benefits of cold water swimming and hydrotherapeutic treatments.
