Reflecting with Stones

3 Methodist Chapels on the Wall: Port Carlisle, Gilsland and Heddon

17 Apr 2022 - 30 Oct 2022

Free

Delivered by North Cumbria Methodist Circuit

PICK UP ONE OF THE PAINTED STONES (available at 3 chapels: Port Carlisle, Gilsland & Heddon), carry it for a while, let it reflect your life and put it down at another chapel door or spiritual building on Hadrian’s wall. Stones have been picked up for 1000’s of years for weapon, tool, decoration or building, like Hadrian’s wall. Stones can symbolise much in our living, as God is present in all things, listen in your heart as you:
PICK UP YOUR STONE, it may symbolise a resolve, a start of something, a commitment, intention in life …
CARRY YOUR STONE FOR A WHILE, it may symbolise a responsibility, a load or burden or something you desire to have or hold …
PUT DOWN YOUR STONE, it may symbolise the finishing, resolving of something, letting go
or breaking attachments …

The stones are available by the chapel doors. However Port Carlisle Chapel is always open during daylight hours, it is a good place to rest a while or read some of the local history of Port Carlisle. Gilsland and Heddon Chapels are open on Thursday mornings with refreshments.
