Join the Friends of Carlisle’s Victorian and Turkish Baths, where they will be talking about the recent archaeological dig which unearthed evidence of a significant Roman bathhouse next to the River Eden, celebrating the past 114 years of the historic and exquisite Turkish baths, and explaining the invaluable benefits for people’s health and well-being. There will be further talks at the Stanwix Community Hut, Carlisle Cricket Club and finally at the Turkish Baths themselves in September. Emperor Septimius Severus may even be dropping in to talk about the benefits of bathing having launched the Hadrian’s Wall 1900 festival in a bath at Muncaster Castle in January.
