Test pits and final systematic metal detector scan of site spoil at Carlisle Cricket Club as part of the Uncovering Roman Carlisle Project.
Building on the discovery of the Roman bathhouse and excavations in 2017 and 2021, the URC volunteers will be returning for two days in August for further exploration at the site.
The test pits will hopefully confirm how far the building extends into the eastern boundary and we may test for the presence of the Bathhouse walls.
Will hopefully be a very interesting and enjoyable way to spend a weekend and finish off the Uncovering Roman Carlisle fieldwork. There are limited volunteer places, but the site will be open to everyone to come and have a look.
Tullie House will be present to offer activities and engagement with the public and site tours
