The Lost Spells: Listening to a Landscape of Voices is an enchanting new and free-to-enter exhibition and programme of activity at The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre on Hadrian’s Wall, in Northumberland National Park, launching on Saturday 23 July 2022.

Inspired by the beautiful new book, The Lost Spells, which features artwork and words by the beloved creators of The Lost Words – artist Jackie Morris and writer Robert Macfarlane, The Lost Spells: Listening to a Landscape of Voices is an immersive exhibition which features original artwork, soundscapes and interactive experiences.

Written to be read aloud, each spell-poem in The Lost Spells conjures an animal, bird, tree or flower with which we share our lives and landscapes. The exhibition at The Sill, as well as the series of events and activities, will echo the book’s meaning, exploring the everyday species found in both The Lost Spells, the landscape setting around Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site, and further afield in Northumberland National Park.

Celebrate nature’s power to amaze, console and bring joy through the exhibition and events programme, and feel inspired to learn, love and listen to the National Park’s wildlife and habitats.
