Delivered by Tullie House Museum
Enjoy a free exhibition and family activities celebrating the finds and stories from the 2021 community excavation of the largest Roman building on Hadrian’s Wall. In especially created activities, visitors of all ages will have opportunity to create a Roman-inspired craft to take away, meet our special guest ‘Rory’, dig for their own treasure and try out Roman armour.
Alongside this activity, visitors can enjoy the exhibition created by Tullie House Museum, and see impressive evidence of the influence of Emperor Septimus Severus and the Empress Julia Domna on our region, and also the evidence for people just like us. An exhibition for two weeks only in this location with real finds, film, audio and heart-warming stories of the volunteers who made it all possible.
Winner of the Council for British Archaeology Marsh Community Archaeology Project of the Year. A project in collaboration with Carlisle Cricket Club, Carlisle City Council, Tullie House Museum and Wardell Armstrong funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.Visit site
