Make the most of your visit to Vindolanda by joining one of our free guided tours. Our guided tours are given by our amazing volunteer guides, they all run from the Westgate (main visitors entrance) in the courtyard. The 45-minute tours will take you through some of historical background of the Vindolanda forts, the highlights of the visible site remains with detail on important buildings such as the bath house, tavern and headquarters buildings, and information about some of the great finds you will be able to see in the museum, including one of Britain’s Top Treasures, the Vindolanda Writing Tablets.
We welcome adults and children on all of our tours, and you are able to drop in and out of the tours at any time. Please dress appropriately for the weather as the tours are held outdoors on the fort site.
Monday – Friday 11am & 1pm Saturday & Sunday 11am, 12pm, 1pm & 2pm
You can book a free arrival window when you purchase your ticket online to guarantee entry to the site on event days. From Monday 29th August 2022 there will be no need to book before you visit our sites.
