Delivered by Eliza Brown

Come and join this free workshop, run by artists in partnership with the Hadrian’s Wall: Community Archaeology Project. Over the course of three hours, you will be guided around the location of Housestead’s fort to complete a variety of drawing exercises, beginning and ending with a short meditation. You will meet at 11:45am for a 12pm start, at the Housestead’s visitor centre by the carpark, and all materials will be provided. The workshop happens entirely outdoors, so be weather prepared for this on the go walking and drawing experience. Along the walk between drawing breaks you will be asked to focus on a different sense in order to generate a peaceful focused task that centres you senses as you begin to experience a new relationship with your surroundings. Inspired by the ‘5-4-3-2-1’ grounding method, focusing on 5 things you can see, 4 things you can hear, 3 things you can touch, 2 things you can smell and 1 thing you can taste, this workshop aims to use drawing as a way to connect us to our surroundings and ground us in this historic and picturesque heritage site. The walk is gentle and fully guided, and will end at 3pm where you started, and you will finish with 5 pages of drawings for you to take away. No prior drawing experience is required and creativity and individual expression is actively encouraged! Completely Free, with a 10 person capacity, email to sign up: eliza-brown@hotmail.com
