The Jubilee Beacons will be the first community event of the international celebrations marking Her Majesty The Queen’s 70th year as Monarch and Head of the Commonwealth – her Platinum Jubilee. For the final time in Her Majesty’s reign, more than 1,500 beacons will be lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories, and one in each of the capital cities of Commonwealth countries. Communities across the UK are encouraged to participate by holding an event to mark the occasion – uniting with others across the UK and in the Commonwealth in the lighting of a beacon.
